Vote National – The Family Party?

Posted in Media Statements by Bevan Berg Thursday March 13, 2008

If anyone can make a political party sound like a gramophone with a cracked record, it is National’s Judith Collins; carrying on about “Dead Beat Dads” not paying child support says Republican Leader Kerry Bevin.

There would be more “Dead Beat Dads” paying child support than not paying child support, because that is all our so called modern society asks them to do.  Often it is doing something far worse and that is actively obstructing or destroying the relationship between fathers and children.  New Zealand no longer recognises or values fathers.

The day Ms Collins starts talking about compensating the victims of state sponsored parental alienation we might start thinking that she has more concern about children than the dollar signs in the eyes of jealous women.

This continued bleating from National’s Family spokesman is not about the welfare of families, what it is really about is a small group called the Collin’s girls club who can’t get their hands on excessive amounts of money from the children’s father.

Ms Collins knows that the current child support legislation has never worked for the benefit of children or parents, and that it is really about maximising benefit recovery.

Surely there is someone in the National Party who would make a better family spokesman than this obsessive lawyer.  Perhaps she could invest her time in writing some improved legislation, says Mr Bevin.
