Gaffe after Gaffe.
The decision by this Governemnt to refuse a Visa to Fijian Goal keeper Simione Tamanisau, for our recent World Cup Soccer Game against Fiji, has not only cost our country financially, but also questions New Zealand’s foreign affairs credibility, says Republicans foreign affairs spokesman Kerry Bevin.
It was great to see our All Whites Win, but the game, played in Fiji last night, left us upstaged by the very same Country we have taken issue with. The pettiness of this decision was highlighted further says Mr. Bevin, when Helen Clark was snubbed at the Pacific Forum.
The Republicans have to question what was achieved by the decision, apart from egg on the face of “this leading pacific nation.”
You can see some thought really went into this one says Bevin,
“Now we have a Government left to waste tax payer’s money, in compensation for its petty political grandstanding. It has been a high price to pay for a decision that would never have contributed to the advance of change in the Fijian situation.”
