Fingerprints on Demand.

Press Release
For immediate release.

Republicans Law and Order spokesman Bevan Berg says,

“There is no way I would endorse legislation that empowered the Police to demand fingerprints from civilians in public.”

I know the value of fingerprint evidence he said,

“The last time I gave evidence in court, the case resulted in a conviction for burglary, brought about by fingerprint evidence”

We need to consider the relationship of our Police as part of our community, and what sort of society we aspire to be.

“Community is not about state soldiers limiting our social freedom, with endless technology”, he said

I look forward to seeing the public outcry from this.  It smacks of the smug arrogant attitude displayed this week by those MP’s who think they can intimidate and control the media, when they cannot even take responsibility for their own behaviours.

If my feelings are indicative of the mood of the general public, then tolerance for this parliament must be wearing very thin.

Ends.
