Discipline in Schools.
It is time for teachers to protest the increasing number of assaults in schools by pupils on teachers, says Republican’s education spokesman Paul Haynes.
“Teachers must be able to protect themselves and the suggestion that they should call in the police after they have been assaulted is laughable,” says Haynes.
We have lost discipline in our schools, and that has come from the obvious decrease in the numbers of male staff.
It is a fact of life, says Haynes,
“That social discipline is a male domain, and if it is to be expected in society, it must be taught in schools. That isn’t going to happen with low numbers of male teachers in schools.”
This is an issue that was raised in parliament last century, but we still have decreasing numbers of male staff, and this Government must accept responsibility for that, says Haynes
