Just not ‘Just’
New Zealand judges are not loyal to justice, according to Alan Candy, The Republic of New Zealand Party (The Republicans) spokesperson for Justice
Mr Candy was referring to the questionable appointment of judges, the secrecy in the court process, the suppression of evidence and the lack of sensible sentencing.
“Justice is not being seen or done!” Mr Candy said.
He said judicial activism belied reasonable judgment and set confounding precedents. A worst example is the way Family Court Chief Judge Peter Boshier is protecting a failed court that accepts lies in affidavits without proof. Biased decisions then alienate children from their fathers
Mr Candy said that Judge Boshier’s failure to stop these unsatisfactory practices is foolish and provocative and leaves fathers furious and frustrated
“Justice reform is urgently required before the Country Club that runs justice in New Zealand does more damage,” he said
Citizens for Justice and the Loyal to Justice campaign along with the Men’s Movement have highlighted the injustice
“Even the Australians are on to it,” Mr Candy said.
He said the Republicans will introduce a Constitution that makes the Judiciary accountable. The Law Society will have to indemnify members for damages to victims because of malpractice. Sensible sentencing will become law. Judges on the Supreme Court bench will have to submit to a rigorous selection process. District Court judges will be elected by their communities.
“Republican policy will found law on the will of the people ensuring loyalty to justice,” Mr Candy said
