Democracy the way it should be!

Brash Shows Lack of Vision

The Orewa speech proves that the National Party has nothing to offer this country and is not fit to govern says Kerry Bevin, political leader of The Republic of New Zealand Party (The Republicans).

Mr Bevin scorned what he called Dr Brash’s ‘crocodile tears’ for exporters

“Our high exchange rate has been a problem for some time, but like the government Dr Brash has produced nothing to get to grips with it. Of course our exporters are hurting. This has been on the cards for a long time,” he said

Mr Bevin said The Republicans would recognise that exporters are the life blood of our economy and work with them to ensure they were competitive.

“The days of this laissez faire, let the market decide nonsense are over. Government and private enterprise have to work together to ensure we keep our economy growing,” he said

Mr Bevin said Dr Brash’s prescription for reduced government expenditure had zero credibility because he had consistently refused to explain what he would cut.

“How is he going to reduce expenditure and lower taxes at the same time? He has never explained this,” Mr Bevin said

Mr Bevin said he expected National would do what all National governments have done

“They will slash social services and hurt working men and women so they can give their rich mates tax relief. It’s always been this way with National and I see nothing different here.”
